freewheeling has the idea of a pulse. These pulses can be created, deleted, and loops can be synchronised with the pulse.

The way I use the pulse is like this:

  • create a loop that I want to structure a song around
  • have a button that creates a pulse. This by default chooses the last loop recorded as the pulse
  • any subsequent loop I record will be synchronised with this pulse - so things will always be in multiples of this first loop. Tip: make the first loop short (1 bar), but spacious.
  • if I press the button again, it sets a new pulse to the last recorded loop. So I can keep an evolving track going that consists of moments of synchronisation with loops that are all drifting. Very cool!
